How This Project Came to Be

Site & Context

At the top of the city, where Athens exhales into the sky, the penthouse begins. You arrive not through a door, but through light. Floor-to-ceiling glass opens the space to the horizon, and with a ceiling height of 4.80 meters, the air itself feels architectural. The city stretches below, layered, pale, infinite, while above, wood-lined ceilings warm the space like the inside of a modern temple. Inside, time slows. The living room unfolds as a quiet dialogue between nature and design. An olive tree rises through the space as if it has always belonged there, its leaves catching the afternoon sun, its roots grounded among books, stone, and fire. A fireplace glows softly, not for warmth alone, but for ritual. This is a place meant for long conversations, for silence shared, for evenings that don’t announce their end. The dining area feels ceremonial. Suspended lights descend like constellations, hovering above a table set not just for meals, but for moments. Wine poured slowly, laughter echoing upward into the height of the room, the city flickering beyond the glass as night approaches. And then, above it all, the penthouse reveals its secret. The rooftop is not a terrace. It is a horizon. A pool stretches toward the edge of the sky, water merging visually with the distant landscape. By day, it mirrors the soft Attic light; by night, it reflects stars and city glow alike. The view is 360 degrees, uninterrupted, omnipresent. Athens in every direction, ancient and modern at once. Beside the pool, the bar area waits effortlessly. Bottles rest in quiet confidence, candles flicker against wood and stone, and the air carries the promise of dusk turning into something unforgettable. Here, evenings begin without agenda. A glass is raised. The city breathes below. Music hums softly, almost unnecessary. From every corner, inside or out, the penthouse maintains a single, powerful feeling: elevation. Not just in height, but in experience. This is a home that doesn’t compete with Athens; it observes it, honors it, floats above it. And when night finally settles, when the pool reflects the moon and the city becomes a field of lights, you understand: This penthouse is not simply a place to live. It is a place to arrive.
