How This Project Came to Be

Site & Context

Facing the Bois de Boulogne, this Parisian flat does not announce itself loudly. It reveals itself slowly. Like Paris does. The first touch is the door handle. Crystal. Baccarat. Cool in the palm, catching light the way chandeliers once did in private hôtels particuliers. It is not a gesture of excess, but of lineage; an introduction that quietly says: this home remembers where it comes from. Inside, the city disappears. Light pours in through tall windows, filtered by the movement of trees. The Bois stretches endlessly beyond the glass, alive, changing, intimate. Morning arrives here gently, green and silver. Afternoon deepens into shadow and texture. Evenings are hushed, theatrical, as if Paris itself lowers its voice out of respect. The interior speaks in layers. Modernity holds the structure: clean lines, precise volumes, restrained palettes. But embedded within it are 17th-century leather panels, warm and tactile, carrying the weight of centuries. They do not compete with the contemporary elements—they converse with them. The past is not displayed; it is integrated. Underfoot, parquet flooring anchors the space. Each step resonates softly, echoing salons, conversations, footsteps long gone. It brings rhythm to the apartment, grounding its elegance in something deeply Parisian, deeply human. The living spaces feel composed, intentional. Glass, wood, leather, stone. Each material chosen not for trend, but for permanence. Reflections multiply subtly in mirrored surfaces, extending sightlines, amplifying light, blurring the boundary between interior and forest. The bar area glows quietly, bottles framed like objects of contemplation rather than display. This is a home made for evenings that stretch, where conversations begin with champagne and end somewhere closer to philosophy. In the bedroom, calm takes over completely. The world softens. Fabric, wood, and filtered daylight create a private refuge where the forest becomes a painting you wake up inside. Here, Paris is not a spectacle, it is a companion. Even the bathrooms feel ceremonial. Stone, light, and carefully placed niches transform routine into ritual. Fragrance bottles rest like precious artifacts. Water flows softly. Time slows. This flat is not about grandeur alone. It is about continuity. A place where centuries meet without friction. Where crystal door handles open not just rooms, but eras. Where the Bois de Boulogne becomes part of daily life, breathing alongside you. This is not simply a Parisian apartment. It is a dialogue between history and now; a home that doesn’t overlook the city, but understands it.
